Greek Yogurt Parfaits: 3 Ways

IMG_2398

According to research, they say that breakfast is the most crucial meal because it is the one that gets the day started with. As a student, it can be tough to find a healthy, quick breakfast to eat before classes.  One of my go to and personal favorite breakfasts are Greek yogurt parfaits. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, they are effortless, healthy, as well as quick to make. These parfaits are packed with protein from the yogurt as well as  antioxidants and nutrients from the fruits that have amazing health benefits.

These parfaits are customizable and the flavor combinations are infinite! They all start with a base of plain Greek yogurt, then fruit, and nuts/ granolas. Feel free to make adjustments to these recipes, by adding more toppings or adjusting the ratios! All of these recipes make for one serving!

  1. Dark Chocolate Almond Cherry

The flavors of chocolate, almond, and cherry pair nice together by making it sweet, sour, and a bit salty.

Ingredients:

-1 5.3 oz of plain Greek yogurt

-1 tbsp. dark chocolate

-2 tbsp. almonds

-4 to 5 cherries

Instructions:
1. In your cup, spoon in your Greek yogurt, then add in your cherries, chocolate, and almonds.

2.Strawberry Almond

The juicy, tart, sweet strawberries paired with the toasted almonds and oats are almost like eating a strawberry crisp!

-1 5.3 oz of plain Greek yogurt

-1/2 cup of roasted oats (see note below on how to make)/ granola

-3 to 4 strawberries

Instructions:

  1. In your cup, spoon in your Greek yogurt, then add in your strawberries, toasted oats, and almonds.

3. Grapefruit and Honey

The tartness of the grapefruit goes well together with the Greek yogurt, while the honey adds a bit of extra sweetness.

Ingredients:

-1 5.3 oz of plain Greek yogurt

-1/2 grapefruit

-2 tbsp. almonds

-Drizzle of honey

Instructions:

  1. In your cup, spoon in your Greek yogurt, then add in your grapefruit, almonds, and followed by a drizzle of honey.

*Toasted Oats in the microwave (I use these for the added crunch)

Ingredients:

-1/4 cup of old fashioned oats

-1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. In a microwave safe dish, mix your oats with your cinnamon. Microwave it for about 30 seconds.
  2. After 30 seconds, microwave in 15 second increments until your oats are toasted and crisp.  For me, it took about 2 1/2 minutes (with a 1000 Watt microwave). Keep a close eye on them as they can burn.
  3. Enjoy!

Final products 🙂

If you eat Greek yogurt, what are your favorite toppings? I’m curious to see what ingredients you put in your parfaits!

Have an amazing day!
